To enhance global understanding of Taiwan’s substantive examination practices for invention patents, TIPO has released the English versions of Chapter 9 "Post Grant Amendment" and Chapter 10 "Division and Conversion" from Part II of the Patent Examination Guidelines.
Chapter 9 explains the types of amendments applicants may request and outlines the criteria for determining whether such amendments are allowable during substantive examination. Chapter 10 sets out the requirements for filing divisional or conversion applications and details the legal effects of such actions.

TIPO Publishes English Translations of Chapters 9 and 10 from Part II of the Patent Examination Guidelines
To align with the amendments to Article 30, Paragraph 4 of the Trademark Act and Articles 12(10) and 13(2) of the Enforcement Rules of the Trademark Act, which took effect on May 1, 2024, TIPO has revised relevant provisions of the Examination Guidelines for Non-Traditional Trademarks. The revised guidelines were promulgated on July 23, 2025, and will come into effect on August 1, 2025.
